Advancing research through collaboration
We build powerful alliances with leading research institutions to tackle complex socio-technical challenges facing our world today.
We build powerful alliances with leading research institutions to tackle complex socio-technical challenges facing our world today.
Our partnerships with Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Oak Ridge Laboratory, Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research (FNLCR), Technical University of Munich (TUM), University of Sussex, and the SIREUS Network create a dynamic ecosystem for knowledge exchange and innovation. These strategic collaborations enhance our research capabilities, expand funding opportunities, and accelerate the development of solutions that address critical issues in health, security, and sustainability on both national and global scales.
FNLCR is a Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC) operated by Leidos Biomedical Research Inc. (LBR) under contract with the federal government, with an annual budget exceeding $1 billion. Georgetown has partnered with FNLCR since 2017 to allow access to unique research infrastructure, including a best-in-class cryo-electron microscopy and cutting-edge bio-nanotechnology center. FNLCR and GU have partnered to provide an outstanding research experience for students demonstrating academic excellence who wish to learn at one of the premiere national laboratories in the nation. FNLCR is the only U.S. national laboratory exclusively focused on research, technology, and collaboration in the biomedical sciences.
Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) has served as a primary partner with GU for computing and engineering for over 15 years and currently houses the fastest supercomputer in the world. Collaborations have included: i) the ARGUS program, where LLNL applied deep learning methods to our global infectious disease surveillance data to identify early indicators of disease outbreaks, 2) soft matter physics working on bio-printing of human tissue, 3) the Center for Neuroengineering, and 4) ORNL is a key partner with Georgetown University on the ~$100 million Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) Learn More
The GU-LLNL Internship is intended to provide an outstanding research experience for graduate students who wish to expand their skills at one of the premiere national laboratories in the nation. LLNL is a global leader in many scientific fields, including high-performance computing, engineering, applied genomics, biotechnology, and photon science.
